Frequent PDF Embed Problems
Embedding PDFs on a website can sometimes present challenges. Here are four common issues people encounter when trying to embed PDFs and the solutions we can provide at Resource Center
Compatibility and Rendering Issues: Different web browsers and devices may handle PDF rendering differently, leading to compatibility issues. The embedded PDF may not display correctly or fail to load altogether.
If you are hosting and presenting files in Resource Center, you will not encounter such problems because we are handling compatibility and rendering for you. As a third-party service rendered by a javascript, Resource Center ensures that your PDFs work.
Large File Size: PDF files can be large, especially if they contain high-resolution images or lengthy content. Uploading and embedding large PDFs can result in slow page load times, causing a poor user experience.
To mitigate this problem, we currently limit an upload to 100 MB. Our software can take it the rest of the way. Data is not a completely solved issue, so remember that big PDFs simply take longer to load. We make sure our code stays efficient and fast.
Lack of Searchability: PDFs embedded on most websites are static images or files, which means the content within the PDF may not be searchable by search engines or within the website’s search functionality. The absence of a search can limit the discoverability and accessibility of the information contained in the PDF.
That is not the case with Resource Center. We have a search bar! You can search multiple documents at once. Search is an important feature that we set out to create in the very alpha stages of our product and is a
Updates and Maintenance: Embedding PDFs on a website can become problematic when updates or changes need to be made to the PDF content. If the embedded PDF is static and not easily editable, any updates to the PDF will require re-uploading and re-embedding the file on the website. Updates can be time-consuming and may lead to broken links or inconsistencies in the content.
All PDFs you embed are managed inside the Resource Center portal. If you categorize them properly, they will automatically show up where you assign them. We have an uploading and publishing system to make it easy to manage the updating of documents.
Remember that the specific implementation and solutions may vary depending on your website platform, tools, and requirements.
