Embedding Interactive PDFs
Embedding interactive PDFs in a website can be a great way to provide engaging content to your website visitors. Incorporating interactive elements such as forms, multimedia, and hyperlinks into your PDF can create a more interactive and immersive experience for your users. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to embed an interactive PDF in a website:
- Create or convert your PDF: First, you need to create your interactive PDF using a software application that supports interactive features, such as Adobe Acrobat Pro or Adobe InDesign. If you already have a PDF and want to make it interactive, you can use Adobe Acrobat Pro to add interactive elements to the existing document.
- Upload your PDF to a hosting platform: To embed the PDF in your website, you need to upload it to a hosting platform or a file hosting service. Several options are available, such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or your web server. If you want additional features like categorizing or searching multiple PDFs, use Resource Center!
- Obtain the PDF embed code: Once your PDF is uploaded to a hosting platform, you’ll need to obtain the embed code. The process may vary depending on the platform you’re using. Our embed codes have their own section and allow you to create as many as you want.
- Insert the embed code into your website: Go to your website’s HTML editor where you want to embed the interactive PDF. Paste the embed code you obtained from the hosting platform into the appropriate section of your HTML document. This is usually within the <body> tags.
- Customize the embed settings (optional): Depending on the hosting platform you’re using, you may have options to customize the appearance and behavior of the embedded PDF. We let you customize fonts, colors, and more our embed options.
- Test the embedded PDF: Save your changes and preview your website to ensure that the embedded PDF displays correctly. Test the interactive features to make sure they are working as intended. If any issues arise, review the embed code and your applied settings.
- Consider responsive design: Remember that many users will access your website on various devices with different screen sizes. Ensuring your embedded PDF is responsive and adjusts to different screen sizes is important. You can achieve this by specifying appropriate width and height parameters or by using responsive design techniques in your website’s CSS.
One clever way to be responsive is to have two sets of PDFs, ones that look good on desktop and ones that look good on mobile. Using our embed codes, tell your website which to show depending on the device.
Creating and sorting documents in our system is easy. Most other solutions would not suggest this.
By following these steps, you should be able to embed an interactive PDF in your website and provide your visitors with a more engaging and interactive experience. Remember to regularly test the embedded PDF to ensure it works correctly as you update or change your website.
